1. Why it's called the "base"
When Supreme was founded in 1994, they didn't have their own line to manufacture sweatshirts. Therefore, they purchased plain bodies (commonly known as blank bodies) from trusted American sports brands and printed/embroidered their logos on them for sale.
Russell Athletic was said to be one of the main brands used at the time.
